My luggage is where?

Sarah:

I arrived to Reagan airport early (thanks Gaurav) and tested out my TSA Pre-check for the first time.  It worked like a charm and I was through security with plenty of time to check out our Barcelona book and start to plan our time there.  Flight was smooth and easy and I arrived at JFK to an email from Delta saying that my luggage had been sent ahead and I could pick it up from the service desk.  They make it sound so special!

After walking a mile through JFK terminal 4 to the baggage claim area I finally found the Delta service office which was suspiciously full of people but devoid of luggage. After speaking with someone they informed me that the flight my luggage came in on arrived in Terminal 2 and if I'd like my luggage I'd have to go there to pick it up.  Okay, maybe not so special.

I found the air train and took that to Terminal 2.  I walked another half mile to the Delta Service office to find that this one, while empty of people, was full of luggage.  After aimlessly calling out for someone to help and having no luck, I sifted through bags until I found my own, phew.  I then headed back to the air train, took it back around the loop, said hello to Terminal 4 again, and finally made it to Terminal 5 where I could check in for the next flight.

Sadly couldn't use the TSA Pre-check to get through security this time, but I eventually made it through to find a smiling Mom on the other side!

Special shout out to FitBit for showing me that you can in fact walk 4 miles in one airport.

Tammy:

Well unlike Sarah, I had a great experience with Jet Blue.  They were incredibly friendly, greeted me at the kiosk and guided me to the luggage drop.  I was then asked if I would like to have my luggage checked all the way through to Barcelona.  As I stood with my mouth open in shock as the airline attendant asked me again, would you like me to check your luggage through to Barcelona . . . I suspiciously asked how that could be done since we are traveling on Aer Lingus from JFK to Dublin, then Dublin to Barcelona.  She said, it's no problem because the Jet Blue terminal houses Aer Lingus.  So I didn't even have to pick up luggage, ride the air tram around the airport, check-in again or go through security.  Easy as could be.  Impressive Jet Blue!  Who knew their service was this great.  Perhaps it's time switch from American Airlines.  We'll see if the luggage comes through...   Although I'm feeling lucky, check out our plane :)
